Head of Communications
HQ: San Francisco · Posted Sep 17, 2026
$210K – $260KAbout the role
ABOUT LIGHTFIELD Lightfield is an AI-native CRM that assembles itself from your email, calendar, and meetings. It captures every interaction and turns it into organized context: accounts, tasks, follow-ups, and insights, so nothing slips through the cracks. We’re rethinking CRM from first principles. Instead of forcing teams to maintain rigid systems, Lightfield learns from how companies actually work, adapting, automating, and surfacing the insight that drives growth. We’re building the CRM platform we always wished existed: fast, intelligent, and genuinely helpful. The market agrees. Over 5,000 companies have used Lightfield since we launched in November, making us the fastest-adopted product in our category. We raised a $47M Series A led by a16z, with Greylock, Lightspeed, Coatue, Maverick and Audacious participating, and our founders previously built Tome, a generative AI presentation product used by over 25 million people. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Shape our narrative. Develop a clear, distinctive account of what Lightfield believes, what we’re building, and where business software is headed. Understand how Salesforce and other well-funded incumbents frame the market, find the assumptions worth challenging, and make our case with evidence. - Explain our technical vision. Help people understand our ambition to build a business world model: a representation of how a company works that lets AI reason about decisions and their consequences. Work with our engineers to explain how customer memory, structured data, and agents fit together—and why CRM is the place to start. - Report from inside the company. Interview engineers, sit in on customer conversations, use the product, and follow promising leads. Find the details and original insights that make a story worth telling. Bring us angles we haven’t thought of. - Develop and write our most important ideas. Work with the founders to turn emerging convictions about technology and business into original essays and arguments. Bring your own research, historical parallels, and customer evidence. Challenge the logic, strengthen the case, and write in a voice that feels unmistakably theirs. Bring the same rigor to technical explainers, product launches, and customer stories. - Own external communications. Build relationships with journalists, newsletter writers, and podcast hosts who matter to our audience. Develop pitches, plan announcements, and prepare founders for interviews. Exercise judgment about timing, claims, and when we have something worth saying. - Build a distinctive voice. Set the editorial standard for how Lightfield sounds. Partner with design and marketing on website copy, campaigns, and brand storytelling. Make our writing precise, interesting, and recognizably ours. - Give good stories a wider life. Build a focused publishing rhythm across our blog, social channels, and newsletter. Adapt strong ideas for different audiences and work with marketing to understand what earns attention, builds trust, and brings the right customers to Lightfield. WHO YOU ARE - You have a reporter’s instincts. You ask the second and third questions, check the claim, and keep digging until you understand what actually happened. You can find the interesting detail in a conversation that seemed routine. - You’re an exceptional writer and editor. You can develop an original argument, connect ideas across technology and business, and explain a difficult subject clearly. You’re as comfortable challenging a premise as editing a paragraph. Your portfolio shows both range and judgment. - You think strategically about communications. You understand how a story changes someone’s view of a company. You consider the audience, the timing, the competitive context, and the proof behind the message. - You understand how stories travel. You follow the journalists, founders,
