About the role
The job At LucidLink, you’ll be a part of a world-class team of engineers, creatives, thinkers, and storytellers, empowering remote teams to connect in new ways to produce high-quality video, audio, media, and design projects. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and advance while working with various applications and technologies on the three major operating systems and regularly confronting complex situations requiring critical thinking and attention to detail. Quality and reliability of a filesystem constitute vastly different problems than ensuring the same virtues of web or regular applications. You will be constantly challenged to think about low-level I/O, networking, operating systems, user application behavior, and interoperability. Mission Your mission will be to own the automation strategy and execution for a defined product area or test domain, moving it from happy-path-only coverage to depth against edge cases, failure modes, and cross-platform scenarios. Build the frameworks and tooling that make that area's automation fast, reliable, and low-maintenance - feeding the data and patterns that inform LucidLink's platform-wide automation standards. What you'll do (Outcomes in 12–18 months) - Own and execute the automation strategy for an assigned product area or test domain — moving it from happy-path-only to edge-case, failure-mode, and cross-platform coverage. - Build and harden automated test frameworks and tooling for that domain, integrated into CI/CD, reducing flakiness and execution time within owned scope. - Lead root-cause investigation of complex or recurring failures in that domain, partnering directly with engineering to resolve underlying issues. - Contribute practical automation/quality metrics for the domain that roll up into org-wide prioritization and release decisions. - Strengthen risk-based test planning within the domain, surfacing quality signal earlier in the cycle. - Mentor T2 automation engineers on automation practices, code quality, and framework usage. - Build technical credibility with the engineering teams directly touching that domain. Competencies and values - Automation-first execution: Translates a domain's quality needs into a concrete, executable automation plan — within existing platform standards rather than setting them. - Hands-on builder mindset: Designs, builds, and iterates on automation directly; primary output is working coverage, not process. - Technical depth: Solid grounding in the domain's technical surface (e.g., auth, file systems, SDKs, or back-end infra) sufficient to debug complex, cross-platform failures independently. - Influence within scope: Builds trust and credibility with the teams they work with day to day; shifts local testing practices through clarity and results. - Direct mentorship: Coaches T2 engineers on automation practices and code quality. - Data-informed prioritization: Uses evidence to decide what to automate next within the domain and to flag gaps upward. - Pragmatic tooling use: Adopts and applies tools and standards set at the platform level; can recommend but doesn't own org-wide tooling decisions. Interview process: Here’s what you can expect when you apply: 1. Initial interview – a chat with our People & Culture team to get to know you and your background. 2. Technical interview – a conversation with some of our engineers to dive into your skills and experience. 3. Take-home task – an assignment to work on in your own time, showcasing your problem-solving approach. 4. Task review – a follow-up interview where you’ll walk us through your solution and thought process. 5. Final interview – a discussion with our VP of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or both, to make sure we’re the right fit for each other. REASONS TO JOIN LUCIDLINK: - Tackle big challenges: You’ll have the chance to solve complex, high-stakes problems that redefine how teams collaborate globally. By starting with the Me
