Position Summary: At Miovision, we are engineering the future of smart transportation, and we need a Software Developer to help us build the engine under the hood of our IoT edge computing devices. The Device Platform is the critical interchange that sits right on top of our embedded Linux operating systems, seamlessly directing data traffic between our hardware, firmware, and cloud services. We are looking for an engineer who can smoothly navigate the fast lane of end-to-end feature ownership—from edge device runtimes (Node.js, Go, C++) to cloud microservices and frontend integrations. If you are ready to steer complex software initiatives out of gridlock, build scalable solutions, and write code that acts as a green light for millions of commuters across municipalities worldwide, it is time to hit the gas! *Note that this is a role that will require you to come into the office in Kitchener, ON, from time to time. We estimate a few times per month. Objectives and Responsibilities: - End-to-End Ownership: Design, develop, test, deploy, and meticulously maintain high-quality software systems that span from the physical edge device up to the cloud. - Strategic Vision: Collaborate closely with your team and system architects to chart out a long-term technical vision and successfully execute a shared product roadmap. - Enable Speed: Champion incredibly fast iteration cycles by building and leaning heavily on robust build, test, and deployment automation. - System Optimization: Rigorously evaluate the performance, cost, and scalability of live systems to ensure they operate at peak efficiency. - Continuous Improvement: Proactively evaluate and recommend upgrades to existing systems, identifying prime refactoring opportunities and championing the adoption of new technologies. - Quality Control: Conduct thorough peer code reviews to ensure all contributions strictly align with our high standards for code quality and maintainability. The Ideal Profile: - You bring strong, hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Go, NodeJS, Kotlin, SpringBoot, or C/C++. - You have strong experience utilizing AI as part of your development ecosystem as a mean to improve quality and productivity. - You have real experience working and testing with physical device hardware. You bring a deep curiosity to dive into technical details, read protocol specs, and enthusiastically tinker in the hardware lab. - You possess a strong command of essential Linux tools (such as systemd-networkd, tcpdump, OpenVPN, iptables, IPsec, apt/dpkg, bash, and filesystems) to confidently navigate and configure embedded systems. - You have solid experience with
